いまはまだマスメディアの崩壊という認識は、インターネットの論壇界隈に接点を持っている一部の人たちに共有されているにすぎない。しかしその認識は、週刊東洋経済や週刊ダイヤモンド、SAPIOといった週刊誌・月刊誌がさかんに組む特集によって増幅され、さらには今回のNHKスペシャルによってさらに広範囲の視聴者にも送り込まれている。

　こうした情報配信が繰り返されることによって、「新聞やテレビはもう終わりなんだ」というイメージは徐々に浸透していく。つまりはかつてマスメディアが自身を幻想化して巨大化していったのと同じように、いまやマスメディアの側がみずからの崩壊イメージを構築しはじめているのだ。「これから新聞とテレビはなくなりますよ！」というイメージを、マスメディアの側が再生産しはじめているのである。
